EWENE stands for Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere and Amicus EWENE means Friend of Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere. On 29th May 2026, Kenya intensified efforts to tackle preventable maternal and newborn deaths with the launch of the Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere (EWENE) Acceleration Plan 2026–2028.
The plan seeks to reduce maternal and newborn mortality through targeted interventions, improved healthcare services, and stronger accountability mechanisms, particularly in high-burden counties.

1 Billion KEMSA Commodities financing

2.5 Billion Family Planning Supplies financing

5,000 Nurses & Midwives recruited nationwide
In the program, the ministry of health has the below targets:

90% ANC Coverage

90% Skilled Birth Attendance

80% Post Natal care within 2 days

80% Access to Emergency Obstetric & Newborn Care
Amicus Contributions
Amicus is aligned and is already supporting doctors, clinics, health facilities across the country towards achieving the above targets and in particular improving ANC coverage and emergency responses.
Through our Friends4Impact initiative, we are inviting Kenyans to provide financial support to high risk patients at the point of need and hence improving maternal outcomes across the country when it is needed the most.
